• There are Hawks all over the place near the airport in Kelowna. I was out with my Dad and we were actually following a Red-tailed Hawk that landed on the same power pole as this Roughie. the Red-tail took off as soon as we approached, but this one didn't seem to mind us too much. It eventually launched as well, but just did a slow fly by right past us before landing on the next power pole down...©2009, Sean Phillips.http://www.Sean-Phillips.com

 • I saw this beautiful bird on the side of the road and pulled over immediately. It flushed as soon as I stopped, but it quickly landed on the shoulder of the road just a short distance away. I slowly approached it hoping to get a few closeup shots, but it took off again. This was the only image I managed to make...©2009, Sean Phillips.http://www.Sean-Phillips.com

 • I was very excited to find a family of Great Horned Owls, including two juveniles. The owlets were flapping their wings and hopping around from branch to branch. It seems that they can't quite fly yet, but they're definitely stretching their wings and getting ready to try!
• It's amazing how quickly baby birds grow! It was only a week ago that they were just fresh out of the egg and were a raw pink color. Now they are completely covered in feathers and stretchign their wings. It won't be much more than another week before they're trying to fly!
