• The Icefields Parkway between Banff and Jasper National Parks in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. This highway is one of the most scenic mountain roads anywhere. There are so many places where you can simply stop and make a breathtaking image.....©2010, Sean Phillips.http://www.RiverwoodPhotography.com

 • While hiking to Lake Helen and Cirque Peak in Banff National Park we came across dozens of these interesting critters. They are very large ground squirrels that are not even remotely shy. We were able to approach very closely before they even bothered to look up. they are very fat, and very cute!
• The most beautiful hike that you've never heard of! The terrain and features of the lake itself are very similar to Chester Lake (a few km down the highway), but the actual hike up to the lake is much much nicer than the hike to Chester.

This is a relatively unknown trail with an unmarked trailhead and as such you won't share it with very many people (as opposed to the hundreds that visit Chester every day in the summer). Be sure to take the extra step of climbing up into Rummel Pass as it is also extremely beautiful and makes the overall trip that much better!
• March 17, 2015 - The aurora was very strong but Calgary was almost completely socked in with cloud so we had to head much farther north than normal in order to find it. This image was taken from a side road a few kilometers east of Highway 2 near Olds, AB. The Northern Lights were very strong when we first arrived at this location but steadily faded after that.

• This Grizzly bear caused a massive "Bear Jam" along the highway in the Tower Falls area of Yellowstone. It took us over 20 minutes to get through the area as the tourists all stopped to take pictures as this beautiful bear enjoyed a snack on the side of the road.
