• Images from a trip to Red Rock Coulee in Southwestern Alberta.

The area is home to hundreds of "spherical concretions", which are huge red rocks that have eroded much more slowly than the surrounding soil. They are similar to hoodoos, which are more commonly found in the badlands of central Alberta.

Red Rock Coulee is one of those extremely interesting places that is unlike anywhere else that you'll ever visit.
• March 17, 2015 - The aurora was very strong but Calgary was almost completely socked in with cloud so we had to head much farther north than normal in order to find it. This image was taken from a side road a few kilometers east of Highway 2 near Olds, AB. The Northern Lights were very strong when we first arrived at this location but steadily faded after that.
• These pretty little birds are extremely fast in flight and therefore it's very hard to make good images of them. Every once in awhile you might find one like this one that is happily perched and in no hurry to go anywhere. I got to make lots of images and only stopped when I figured that I had enough. I came by about an hour later and the bird was still in the same place.....©2009, Sean Phillips.http://www.Sean-Phillips.com

 • I was lucky enough to have a chance to make a few images of one of the most amazing sunrises that I've ever seen. The sky absolutely lit up with a furious red glow as the sun slowly climbed towards the cloudy horizon. There were just enough clouds in the distance to fight back against the full force of the sun, and the result was an amazing orange and red sky as far as the eye could see. Beautiful!
