• A vee formation of Canada Geese flying over the Bow River in SE Calgary. It was a very bright and hazy day and the geese were almost lost in the haze and the light of the sun behind them.
• It has been very cold in Calgary this week, and also cloudy. So when the sun finally popped out today I jumped at the chance to do some snowshoeing in the outer reaches of carburn park. The birds and animals were also obviously enjoying the sunshine as they were very excited and frisky!..©2011, Sean Phillips.http://www.RiverwoodPhotography.com

 • A Canada Goose soars directly over top of me as I crossed the walking bridge into Southland Dog Park. There were thousands of geese there the other day and it was really rather impressive to see them all...

 • We stopped for lunch at a picnic site on the South Rim trail and were almost immediately spotted by several of these curious Jays. They definitely have no fear of people...
• The hike to larch valley is always spectactular, especially in the fall when the larches turn a golden yellow. We were about two weeks too late to see the best of the show as many of the trees were already barren of needles. It was cool to see a carpet of golden yellow needles on the ground, and we were there on a beautiful blue sky day. It was a great way to end the hiking season before winter hits!

These Gray Jays (aka Whiskey Jacks) were very curious about all the activity on the trail.
